Paul Baker’s journey to creating Go Triage began with a childhood farming accident that left him with a fractured pelvis. Through physio, he learned to walk again in just weeks, planting the seed for his future career.
Fast forward to 2022, after decades running goPhysio, his own clinic, Paul identified a growing problem in the industry. Long waiting times, increasingly complex patient cases, staff shortages, increased overhead costs and growing administrative burdens, were making it more and more challenging to deliver high quality care. The complexity of mastering both clinical expertise and customer service skills made hiring and training new therapists a slow, arduous process.
Paul’s career has been guided by a powerful quote often attributed to Robin McKenzie:
“I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I’m not sure you realise that what you heard is not what I meant.”
This encapsulates the pitfalls of miscommunication in patient interactions and it’s associated unseen costs of patient drop out and churn in private clinical practice, a challenge Paul has dedicated his career to addressing.
Recognising AI’s potential as a language model, Paul saw an opportunity to revolutionise communication in clinical practice. “AI offers us a chance to modernise and redesign the entire patient journey,” Paul explains. “From injury to recovery, we can enhance the experience for both patients and therapists, bringing physiotherapy into the 21st century.”
Go Triage aims to redefine physiotherapy and MSK care by creating a new paradigm where human intuition and AI’s analytical capabilities work in harmony. The goal is to establish a triad of patient, Therapist, and AI collaboration, enhancing the overall quality of care.
